Duncan Area
Chemainus

Known for its outdoor heritage murals, Chemainus, the "Little Town That Did", is considered the world's largest outdoor gallery. There are more than 39 murals and sculptures that depict the town's history. A horse-drawn carriage or a simulated steam train will take you on a tour. Lots of giftshops and small galleries can be found in the town, as well as antique and collectible shops. Another reason to visit Chemainus are the very popular productions of the regional theatre company at the Chemainus Theatre.

Crofton Mill Tours

Free mill tours are offered at this integrated pulp and paper facility in Crofton. The tours are available on every working weekday from June 1 to August 3, starting at 1:30 pm, and lasting just under 2 hours. To book your tour, call 250-246-6006
Artisans

The beauty of the Cowichan region inspires many artists and artisans, including painters, potters, carvers, sculptors and glassblowers. Spend a day visiting studios and pick up a unique gift for that special person. Visions Art Studio Tour - tour runs from July 1 to July 5, 2010 but the site also links to many of the artists and artisans in the Cowichan Region
Daytrips
Lake Cowichan-Port Renfrew-Sooke - this daytrip includes traveling from Lake Cowichan to Port Renfrew on the west coast of the Island. Visit the Botanical Beach and continue south along the coast to Sooke and then back up to Cobble Hill. There's a possibility you'll be seeing some wildlife, and there are several beaches to explore.

Salt Spring Island - Take the ferry from Crofton and spend the day exploring the largest of the Gulf Islands between Vancouver Island and the mainland. Go on a Saturday and visit the very popular market in the town of Ganges, or stop in at some of the artist studios on the self-guided Studio tour.
Victoria
Cobble House is just 45-60 minutes away from downtown Victoria or the world-famous Butchart Gardens The "City of Gardens" as it is often called, does an annual Flower Count at the end of February! Beautiful gardens and parks, including Government House and Royal Roads, offer peaceful oasis among the hustle and bustle. You can easily spend several days in the Victoria area, but a definite highlight is the Royal BC Museum. Whale watching, afternoon tea, a city tour on a double-decker bus or a horsedrawn carriage, historic castles and residences including the Empress Hotel, the Galloping Goose trail, buskers on the causeway, fine dining, boating, golf, walks along the seashore - Victoria offers something for everyone.
